România este ţara în care părinţii pleacă în străinătate să muncească şi îşi lasă copiii singuri acasă. România este ţara în care bătrânii mor singuri în casele lor, părăsiţi de rude, fără prieteni, fără ajutor, cu probleme de sănătate. Zilele trecute i-am ajutat pe aceştia din urmă, mai precis 10 dintre ei, care sunt incluşi în programul de îngrijire la domiciliu din Bacău.
Romania is the country where parents leave their children all by themselves to go work abroad. Romania is the country where the elderly live out their old age alone. In the last few days we have offered the aforementioned a helping hand, namely 10 senior citizens included in the Bacău homecare programme.
Along with volunteers from the Vodafone Romania Company and Bacău Community Support Foundation – 45 total – we participated in what we called “Cleaning up at grandma’s house”, an activity which meant general cleaning at the seniors’ homes and cooking, where needed.
Doamna Petre are şase copii, dintre care unul cu sindrom Down. Locuiesc cu toţii în subsolul unui bloc din Ferentari, într-o boxă de şase metri pătraţi, plină de umezeală şi igrasie. Prin această cameră, întunecată, prin care nu pătrunde nicio rază de soare, trec conductele de încălzire şi apă caldă, care se mai sparg, din când în când.
Missis Petre has 6 children, one of which suffers from Down syndrome. The youngest is two years old and the oldest is 13, and they all live in the basement of a building in the Ferentari neighbourhood of Bucharest, in a damp and mouldy 6 square meters box. There is no sunlight in this dark room, and heating and hot water pipes cross through the ceiling, which are vulnerable to bursting.
The smell is dreadful; going down there, your nose and throat will burn and you’ll find it difficult to breathe. Their father couldn’t take all of this anymore and hung himself, leaving his family to fend off for themselves. This is one of the social cases undertaken by the Saint Stelian Association, through the Steluţa Day Care Centre, financed by the Vodafone Romania Foundation.
Azi suntem foarte fericiţi, nu doar pentru că este Ziua Internaţională a Fericirii, ci pentru că am rămas cu un sentiment minunat după ce ieri, alături de sportivii Fundaţiei Motivation, am jucat baschet în scaune rulante.
12 voluntari din cadrul companiei Vodafone România au răspuns apelului lansat de către fundaţia noastră şi s-au prezentat la sala de baschet a Federaţiei Române de Baschet, să joace baschet pe două roţi. A fost o experienţă inedită, pentru că am întâlnit nişte oameni care nu şi-au pierdut pofta de viaţă şi care se simt liberi, chiar dacă sunt legaţi de scaune rulante.
12 volunteers from the Vodafone Romania Companyhave answered on 19-th of March to the request launched by our Foundation and they showed up at the Romanian Basketball Federation gym. It was a unique experience, because we met some amazing people, who feel free and haven’t lost their zest for life, even though they’re strapped to a chair on wheels.
Sleroza multiplă, o boală nemiloasă, care afectează peste 10.000 de români, n-are leac sau cel puţin încă nu a fost descoperit până acum. Bolnavii care suferă de scleroză multiplă trebuie să găsească soluţii de convieţuire cu această boală, care atacă sistemul nervos central (creierul şi coloana vertebrală).
Ieri a fost o zi plină de culoare şi lumină, nu doar pentru că am avut parte de un soare fermecător, ci pentru că la Costeşti, în Argeş, unde am fost împreună cu 20 de colegi din cadrul Vodafone România, i-am cunoscut pe copiii aflaţi în grija Asociaţiei Hercules şi am pictat împreună cu ei pereţii clădirii.
March 12 was an especially sunny and colorful day, but not just because of the delightful sunshine. Along with 30 colleagues from Vodafone Romania, we went to Costeşti, Argeş, where we met the children in the care of the Hercules Association and we painted the building’s walls together.
The Hercules Day Care Centre, financed by the Vodafone Romania Foundation is the only one of its kind in the south of Argeş county. Here, 50 children from underprivileged families receive help with their homework, additional tutoring on the subjects they are having trouble with and they participate in various sports and recreational activities. The Hercules Day Centre also serves them lunch, which is very important for the little ones. Their activity is supervised everyday by volunteer teachers and professors, a kindergarten teacher and a psychologist.
Fundaţia Vodafone România şi Asociaţia SM Speromax Alba derulează un proiect pentru sprijinirea pacienţilor cu scleroză multiplă din judeţul Alba. 80 de pacienţi vor beneficia, timp de un an, de asistenţă specializată din partea unei echipe de asistenţi sociali, kinetoterapeuţi şi psihologi.
Along with the SM Speromax Alba Association we launched the “Multiple sclerosis, the disease of the young adult. Be aware of the risks!” project, by means of which we opened a day centre which offers 18 patients diagnosed with multiple sclerosis from Alba county specialized sociomedical services, for 12 months.
The amount invested by the Vodafone Romania Foundation for the development of this project amounts to approximately 42.000 euros.
În România, unul din 10 copii se naşte prematur. Ei au o şansă mai mare să trăiască datorită secţiei de terapie intensivă nou-născuţi de la spitalul Marie Curie din Bucureşti, finanţată de către Fundaţia Vodafone România, împreună cu Asociaţia Inima Copiilor.
