Vodafone Big Marathon Romania

Project name: Vodafone Big Marathon Romania
Duration: 2015
Project objective: Vodafone employees raised over RON 172,000 in the Bucharest International Marathon
Project description: For the first time, Vodafone Big Marathon was hosted in Romania. During the Vodafone Big Marathon events, Vodafone employees from all over the world take part in sports competitions and conduct fundraising actions for the charitable projects of the local Vodafone Foundation.

60 Vodafone Romania employees, joined by 27 colleagues from Albania, Ireland, Italy, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Qatar and Turkey ran in the marathon.

Each runner had the mission to raise funds and, at the end, donations and sponsorships of over RON 172,000 were made.

The funds were raised for two charitable projects, part of the Connecting for Good programme:
– the “Controlin” project of the React Association which helps patients with diabetes to use technology to monitor their blood sugar level and to receive help in emergency situations.
– and the project “Supervision of patients with cardiovascular conditions at home”, of the Caritas Alba Iulia Association – the branch of Social and Medical Assistance, which helps patients suffering of cardiovascular conditions from rural areas to receive health care at home.

The funds were divided equally between the two organizations.
