The Vodafone Romania Foundation and CEAE help tens of thousands of students and teachers in Romania with new resources for a modern education

  • Teachers in Romania have free access to www.fizicaaltfel.ro, a valuable bank of online educational resources, helping them to teach according to 21st century’s standards
  • More than 50,000 students in Romania acquired new skills as a result of the program run by the Vodafone Romania Foundation and the Educational Evaluation and Analysis Center
  • The educational resources created within the program are continuously enriched and will remain indefinitely available to all teachers, parents and students in Romania

Bucharest, October 18, 2022 – More than 50,000 students in Romania acquired new skills in physics after their teachers accessed www.fizicaaltfel.ro, a valuable bank of online educational resources, which helps them teach physics through the investigation method, according to the standards of the 21st century.

The free educational portal is part of the „Investigating and understanding physics” project. www.fizicaaltfel.ro offers teachers and students over 50 filmed and explained experiments, as well as almost 100 dynamic worksheets. All these materials can be used during classroom teaching, as homework or during distance learning. In addition, the dynamic worksheets contain experiment simulations and digital applications that enable students to conduct virtual experiments, like real ones performed in the physics laboratory.

The purpose of the portal created in collaboration with the Educational Evaluation and Analysis Center (CEAE) is to dynamize the educational system, www.fizicaaltfel.ro being an additional resource providing an easier understanding of the school subject.

Internal statistics show that the dynamic worksheets uploaded to the www.fizicaaltfel.ro interactive content platform were accessed more than 13,000 times and downloaded more than 2,500 times.

„Conceived by teachers with experience in teaching physics through the investigation method, the resources from the <<Investigate and understand physics>> project are a real teaching tool for educators. With their help, classroom teaching becomes attractive, tackeling students’ curiosity, stimulating critical thinking. This portal is an example Vodafone Romania Foundation’s mission to build a sustainable and inclusive digital society for all, with technology and connectivity improving the future and people’s lives,” said Angela Galeța, director of the Vodafone Romania Foundation.

The educational portal is periodically enriched with new resources, with no less than 15 dynamic worksheets and new experiments to be uploaded online in the coming days. The Vodafone Romania Foundation thus supports numerous teachers from all over the country with modern teaching methods, adapted to the new digital reality.

„During the pandemic, one of the pressing problems of physics teachers was how to rekindle students’ interest during class. A solution that proved effective was the use of the investigation method in the online school periods. Unfortunately, the teachers did not have digital resources to be able to use this method. This is how the „Investigating and understanding physics” project came about, through which we created filmed experiments and dynamic worksheets, adapted to the Romanian curriculum. The project has been and continues to be very successful as it helps teachers make engaging lessons both remotely and in the classroom for students of different grades. Children are excited about the proposed activities and feel stimulated to get involved in solving tasks, and teachers can monitor their activity in real time. A great plus of the worksheets are the simulations of experiments, which facilitate the observation and analysis of phenomena that otherwise can not be easily reproduced in the school space”, says Cristian Hatu, president of the Educational Evaluation and Analysis Center.

All resources available on www.fizicaaltfel.ro will remain indefinitely at the disposal of all teachers, parents and students in Romania. The „Investigating and understanding physics” project is financed by the Vodafone Romania Foundation with 112,000 lei.

Vodafone Romania Foundation is a Romanian non-governmental organization and registered charity distinct and independent from the company’s commercial operations, established in 1998. In its more than 20 years of activity, Vodafone Romania Foundation has financed 1,168 programs run by 745 NGOs from around the country. The projects have had more than 3 million beneficiaries: children, young people, elderly, physically, socially or economically disadvantaged people. So far, Vodafone Romania Foundation has invested over 31 million euros in projects implemented by partner non-profit organizations. The Educational Evaluation and Analysis Center Association is a government organization that aims to cultivate research, investigation, and experiment in the education system, guiding science teachers to change the way they work with students and showing decision makers that the skills developed by this  new way of teaching really benefit the children. CEAE introduced the investigation method in schools in Romania and trained more than 2,700 physics teachers so that they can use this method in the classroom.
