Bucharest, 21 September 2020 – The Vodafone Romania Foundation received with joy the news that the medical equipment necessary for the operation of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the Constanta County Hospital was purchased and installed. This comes after the completion, in September 2019, of the renovation and modernization works at European standards of the department, as well as its endowment with a telemedicine solution by the Vodafone Romania Foundation.

The next stage is the obtaining by the Hospital of the necessary approval and operating permit, at which time the new department will be opened and will be able to receive up to 30 newborns in need of medical care.

The renovation and modernization works for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Constanta County Hospital started in August 2017, and the total investment amounted to 2,060,000 million euros, funds provided by the Vodafone Romania Foundation (1,540,000 euros) , the Dăruiește Aripi Association (280,000 euros) and the Inima Copiilor Association (240,000 euros). In addition to the renovation, restoration and furnishing of the space, the new department also benefits from a modern telemedicine solution, which allows the secure transmission of images and medical parameters in real time, the remote monitoring of the vital signs of patients and the organization of video conferences for the medical staff.

Annually, in the neonatal intensive care unit, more than 1,000 children born with medical conditions or prematurely from Constanta, Tulcea, Ialomita, Calarasi, Braila and Galati counties receive medical care, and it was last renovated, partially, in 1968, the year the hospital was built.
