2016 – 2017 Edition
Vodafone Romania Foundation has launched the second edition of the Strategic Investment Programme for Rural Areas supporting the education and social services required by disadvantaged categories in the villages and small towns in Romania.
During the period August 2016 – July 2017, there will be implemented projects in all the 41 counties of Romania.
For carrying out the projects, the Vodafone Romania Foundation has selected five strategic partners in a financing round conducted in May addressed to the NGOs with experience in rural area projects. The amount invested by Vodafone Romania Foundation amounts to EUR 456,000.
Between June 23 to July 13, the Partners will launch a financing round addressed to the local organizations interested in participating in the programme.
The five selected strategic partners are as follows:
The Princess Margareta of Romania Foundation, which will grant scholarships to students who are economically and socially less favoured from the following counties: Alba, Bihor, Bistrița-Năsăud, Călărași, Constanța, Covasna, Dâmbovița, Giurgiu, Gorj, Harghita, Ilfov, Maramureș, Mureș, Sălaj, Sibiu, Teleorman, Satu Mare, and who wish to continue their studies. The Mereu Aproape Foundation, which will focus on renovating schools and other educational institutions from the following counties: Argeș, Brașov, Brăila, Buzău, Cluj, Olt, Prahova and Tulcea. More information about the projects can be found at: http://www.ajutaunsat-schimbaotara.ro/.
The Community Support Foundation, which will help less-favoured children and elderly people from the following counties: Bacău, Botoșani, Galați, Iași, Neamț, Suceava, Vaslui and Vrancea. The World Vision Romania Foundation, which will support economically and socially less-favoured children and families from the following counties: Dolj, Ialomița and Vâlcea. More information about the projects can be found at: http://www.worldvision.ro/educatie-pentru-schimbare-a832.html.
Bethany Social Services Foundation, which will come to the help of economically and socially less-favoured children and families from the following counties: Arad, Caraș-Severin, Hunedoara, Mehedinți and Timiș. More information about the projects can be found at: http://bethanyiasi.ro/educatie/.
About the first edition of the Strategic Investment Programme for Rural Areas
The first edition of this program, unique in size, was implemented in the period February 2015 – July 2016. Vodafone Romania Foundation has awarded a grant of EUR 653,645, and the total investment in the programme reached EUR 1,110,000 due to co-financing granted by the partners and to the active involvement of local communities through volunteering and donations.
The 55 projects implemented in villages and municipalities in all the 41 counties of Romania responded to problems in the fields of education (renovation and equipping of educational institutions, after-school type programs, day care centres), health (renovation and equipping of medical practices, facilitating access to health services) and social services (day care centres, occupational therapy). 35,207 children, adults and elderly people, economically or socially less-favoured, benefitted from the programmes.
