The „Good Deeds Fund” is a national program designed to support non-governmental organizations in Romania, engaged in developing projects in the fields of social services, such as those addressed to children and young people in disadvantaged social groups, elderly in difficulty, people with disabilities, victims of domestic violence. The funding is granted after analyzing the proposed projects, and the amount offered to a project can reach up to RON 190,000. Depending on its complexity, the Vodafone Romania Foundation reserves the right to decide the value of the amount offered to the NGOs to finance each selected project.
Since the launch of the „Good Deeds Fund” program in 2013, the Vodafone Romania Foundation has granted a total funding of about RON 7 million to 35 projects run by 30 NGOs. The 5 projects from the previous edition of the program were completed in August 2019, with a total number of about 6,700 beneficiaries (children, young people and people with disabilities).
„The Good Deeds Fund supports projects that bring change to disadvantaged communities and provides a chance for ideas that improve the quality of people’s lives. During this year’s round, we intend to support exclusively projects from the sphere of social inclusion and protection, because this area is heavily underfunded, and the need for specific services is very high”, said Angela Galeța, Director of the Vodafone Romania Foundation.
Examples of projects eligible for funding through the „Good Deed Fund” are: providing social assistance services for vulnerable people, creating access for people with disabilities, increasing the quality of life of the elderly, preventing family abandonment, providing support to victims of domestic violence, using technology in the field of social services.
The applications will be evaluated by a team composed of members of the Vodafone Romania Foundation and external consultants. The evaluation will take into account several criteria, such as the project relevance (the extent to which the project responds to real community needs), project impact (whether the project is indeed capable to trigger a significant change locally or nation-wide to as many beneficiaries as possible) and sustainability (whether the project will continue to run after the end of the financing).
