Bucharest, November 11th, 2020 – Vodafone Romania Foundation will be funding the activity of the multidisciplinary home care team of HOSPICE Casa Speranței Foundation Brașov, for the amount of RON 114,000, which covers interventions for a five-month period. During this time, the PalHope project will support over 100 oncological patients who require palliative care, as well as their families. The intervention team consists of a doctor, two nurses, a social worker, a psychologist and a physical therapist.
“The programmes we support would not be possible without the involvement of partners and in the last few months, more than ever, we have seen just how much can be accomplished when people join forces. Together we find solutions and together we empower goodness and the project of Hospice Casa Speranței is a very good example in this regard”, declared Angela Galeța, Manager of Vodafone Romania Foundation.
“The Vodafone Romania Foundation has been constantly at our side in all our efforts to develop the palliative care services in our country. We are happy that our long-term friends have become involved in this project in such difficult times, in which patients with oncological diseases have limited access to investigations or hospitalization in public hospitals, in the context of the coronavirus pandemic, and are coming to HOSPICE in increasingly large numbers”, declared Mirela Nemțanu, Executive Director of HOSPICE Casa Speranței.
A study conducted at the request of HOSPICE Casa Speranței Foundation shows that, in Romania, more than half of cancer patients prefer to be cared for in the comfort of their own home, by specialised palliative care teams. The patients of HOSPICE Casa Speranței benefit from medical interventions at home, nursing care, social interventions, physical therapy sessions, psychological and spiritual counselling.
Since 2006, Vodafone Romania Foundation has been supporting the palliative care services offered for free by HOSPICE Casa Speranței to adult and children patients who suffer from incurable diseases. The funding offered during the past 14 years amounts to over RON 7,200,000, among the most important projects carried out within this partnership being: the construction of the HOSPICE Casa Speranței hospital in Bucharest and the training of its medical staff, projects concerning the improvement of patients’ quality of life using technology, as well as fundraising, volunteering and sporting events.
